Drabble: Fresh Start

A picture was posted on the Den which sparked a couple snippets and drabbles.  This is my response to it.  A drabble is a 100-word micro-story.

Drabble: Fresh Start

As he started a fresh pot of coffee, his mind drifted to the start of a new year. He didn’t make New Year’s resolutions. He struggled enough with failure, he didn’t need to guarantee one.

But he did have dreams. So many dreams. Dreams of a better life. A better him. And the biggest dream of all was of someone to share his life. A special someone.

Someone to love. Someone to grow with. To learn with. To have that unique relationship with that he’d read about online.

Pouring a cup of fresh coffee, he dreamed of a fresh start.
