The Plunge

The bright sun has washed away what little sight I have.  I still have my other senses.  The sounds of screams and laughter; the chemical smell of chlorinated water; the heat of the burning sun overhead; I smile at the joy I feel.

“Come on, William! The water feels great!” Reed’s voice floats over to me.

Folding my cane and laying it beside a chair, I let Reed’s voice guide me to the water’s edge.  I hesitate unsure of where I’m at.

“That’s the deep end.” Reed cautions.

I let my smile grow, take a deep breath, and I jump.

  2. This was great, Dizzy. Just on Reed's word alone William knows it's safe for him and he jumps right in. I love the joy at the end.
